Postgraduate Program in Epidemiology - UFPEL

The PPGEpi comprises two stricto sensu programs: Academic Master’s and Doctorate. The program’s curriculum is structured around two fundamental pillars: theoretical and practical epidemiology. The multidisciplinary faculty includes professors from the Departments of Social Medicine at the School of Medicine, Nutrition, the Sports Department at the School of Physical Education, and the Restorative Dentistry Department at the School of Dentistry. The permanent faculty members are highly qualified, with nearly all holding National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq) productivity scholarships and actively contributing to scientific and academic institutions both in Brazil and internationally.

The PPGEpi offers specialization in four concentration areas: Epidemiology of the Health Services, Epidemiology of the Life Cycle, Social Determinants of the Health-Disease-Care Process, and Health Equity, each with dedicated research lines.

Additionally, PPGEpi provides a Postdoctoral Internship program, offering advanced training opportunities for professionals who hold a PhD Degree or its equivalent from abroad, duly validated in Brazil.

The PPGEpi is distinguished by its comprehensive approach to epidemiological training, emphasizing the preparation of professionals for leadership roles in health services. This includes decision-making in public health informed by the latest scientific evidence.
